THE BOOKS

Bruce Lee

A friend and a fellow martial artist

Wong Shun Leung was doing his fighting scene with Bruce in April 73. They were filming for 3 days. April was a busy month for Bruce. James Coburn visited to discuss Silent Flute and Bruce was filming further in the mirror room. I had flew in from Singapore to meet Bruce to work on G.O.D. Bruce asked me to go for Tim Sum but I said no because I had a terrible headache that morning. Later in the afternoon I went to see Bruce at Golden studio and he told me what would be expected of me. Bruce and I were friends before he became famous. He was trying to protect me from Raymond Chow and Leonard Ho who were hiring martial artists ’on-the-cheap’ to turn them to superstars. Bottom line was profit, greed and money was the ulterior motive, I supposed; not so much on fame.
